Best Museums
The best museum of Amsterdam is undoubtedly the Rijksmuseum, here you will find many of the greatest treasures of the Netherlands and Amsterdam. The largest collection of Dutch masterworks can be found here, I strongly advice any person to visit this marvelous collection of art. Next door museum can’t be missed either when visiting Amsterdam, the van Gogh museum.
The Hermitage is a lovely museum too, they have a large variety of different types of expositions. Palace the Dam, the former city hall of Amsterdam, is a splendid building absolutely worth visiting. A personal favorite museum is the Canal House museum for it provides great background information on how the canals of Amsterdam were build, also it gives an inside look in the splendor of canal houses at the time of Amsterdams golden age.
Similar in experiencing the inners of a canal house can be found at House van Loon, where the focus lays more on the baroque style.
Any of the before mentioned museums can be combined with most of the provided tours. Especially the walking private tours Golden Age and Painters of the Low Countries connects extremely well with a visit to the Rijksmuseum.
